Locations
Cairns Boat Hire has been assisting people explore the Trinity Inlet for nearly 40 years, originally called Dolphin Boat hire and based in front of the Club house formerly located near the Hilton. Now based in prime position in the Marlin Marina, Cairns Boat Hire’s floating boathouse is situated on Berth A1, directly in front of the Fleet Terminal Building at No 1 Spence Street next to the Pier and Esplanade.

All of our hire boats depart from our office and boats can be taken anywhere inside the inlet, but not out to sea. The Inlet is suprisingly extensive with an abundance of crocodiles, birds, boats and shipwrecks to see. In any of our hire boats, you can go anywhere within the inlet, as far up the creeks as you like.
We supply a map of the cruising grounds on board each boat. Before departure, we will explain to you the best fishing spots and suggest where to go for the time you have.
Always keep track of where you are on the map, so if you run into any problems we can find you quickly!!

More than 50 km of waterways form the Trinity Inlet but you can't get lost for long as there is only one way in and out of the inlet. The circuit around Admiralty Island takes in the largest waterways and takes about two and a half hours to circumnavigate.
Cruising along the Inlet, you'll see sights such as Admiralty Island (a large, manmade, mud island), crocodiles, ship wrecks, moored vessels, slipways, Cruising Yacht Squadron and the Cairns Navy Yard, along with many creeks and estuaries to explore with sunken wrecks, mysterious old craft and smooth wide stretches of beautiful Mangrove lined waterways.
Outside the Inlet is out of bounds, at this point we do not hire boats suitable for heading out to the reef or Green Island region.
